PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a misoperation concerning a shift to a setting input operation mode and also to make a unit small. SOLUTION: A data communication terminal unit 11 is constituted of a control circuit 14, a memory 15, a communication circuit 18 capable of communicating through a PHS line, an external interface 20 and a switch detecting part 21, etc. In the external interface 20, an external unit 12 can be connected via a connector 11a and also a switch unit 13 can also be connected. In the control circuit 14, the switch unit 13 is connected to the connector 11a in a normal operation mode and a mode is shifted to the setting input operation mode by an input signal from the switch detecting part 21 when a switch 24 is turned on. In this operation mode, setting input data transmitted from an external part via a communication line 18 is received and stored in the memory 15. Since the switch 24 is not arranged at the side of the main body, the misoperation is prevented and also the unit is made smaller.
