PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an afocal zoom lens having a zooming ratio 14 or higher power and with a satisfactory optical performance, and to provide a microscope equipped with the afocal zoom lens. SOLUTION: This afocal zoom lens is constituted of a 1st lens group G1, whose refractive power is positive, a 2nd lens group G2 whose refractive power is negative, a 3rd lens group G3 whose refractive power is positive, and a 4-th lens group G4 whose refractive power is negative in order from the object side, and in the case of varying the power from a low power end state to a high power end state, the 2nd lens group G2 is moved from the object side to the image side in a fixed direction, and the 3rd lens group is moved from the image side to the object side in a fixed direction so as to satisfy a prescribed condition.
