PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To print information stored in a portable terminal out of an existent information output device without interposing a public line network. SOLUTION: A signal converter 200 has a terminal interface part 201 for acquiring data from the portable terminal, a data converting part 202 for converting the acquired data to image data and compression-encoding these image data, a pseudo exchange 204 for controlling the connection of a communication line with a facsimile equipment, and a protocol part 203 for performing protocol control for transmitting the compression-encoded image data to the facsimile equipment. This signal converter 200 is interposed between a portable terminal 100 and facsimile equipment 10 and mail received by the portable terminal 100 is sent through the signal converter 200 to the facsimile equipment 10.
