PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a setting method for automatic answering recording time and automatic answering recording data, with which a memory can be effectively utilized by enabling flexible dealing such as prolonging recording time in the case of a little recorded messages and shortening the recording time in the case of many recorded messages. SOLUTION: When there is an incoming call, the free capacity of the memory for automatic answering recording is confirmed (step 202) and when the free memory capacity is more than X (step 204), a response message A in a table 1 is sent out (step 206). After the lapse of recording time for 60 sec (step 210), the call is automatically disconnected and finished (step 214). When the free memory capacity is less than X (step 204), on the other hand, a response message B in the table 1 is sent out (step 208). After the lapse of recording time for 18 sec (step 212), the call is automatically disconnected and finished (step 214).
