1295323 Oxyalkylated carboxylic acid-alkylolamine reaction product FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 21 Oct 1970 [22 Oct 1969] 50016/70 Heading C3R [Also in Divisions D1-D2] A novel mixture of compounds having the formulae in which A denotes an oxymethylene group or the radical -CHR-, R denotes hydrogen or C 1-4 alkyl, R 1 denotes C 3-20 alkyl or alkenyl, R 2 denotes C 1-4 alkyl or -(CH 2 y-O-(C n H 2n O)xH, R 3 denotes -(CH 2 )y-O-(C n H 2n O)xH, n = 2 or 3, y = 1, 2 or 3 and x denotes a number of from 5 to 150, the proportion of the oxazoline derivative in the mixture ranging from 30 to 70 mol per cent, is prepared by reacting a carboxylic acid R 1 -A-COOH with an equimolar amount of an alkylolamine of the formula at an elevated temperature until 1À2 to 1À7 mols of water for each two mols of starting mixture have been split off, the product then being reacted with ethylene and/or propylene oxide. Alternatively the novel mixture of compounds may be prepared by suitable admixture of the three component compounds. Exemplified carboxylic acid reactants are palmitic, oleic, stearic, 2-ethylcaproic, lauroxyacetic, 2-ethylhexoxyacetic, coconut oil fatty, tallow oil fatty and butanecarboxylic acids. Exemplified alkylolamines are tris-hydroxymethyl-aminomethane, 2-amino-2-methyl-propanediol-1,3 and 2-amino- 2-ethyl-propanediol-1,3. Uses.-As auxiliary agents for the dyeing of fibres in aqueous solutions containing conventional additives, viz. sodium hydroxide, sodium dithionite, acetic acid, sodium sulphate and ammonium acetate. |
