METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DISPLAYING DATA BROADCAST

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for displaying a data broadcast that can distribute advertisements suited to a viewer and allow the viewer to grasp the outline of a main broadcast program in the case that the viewer views the main program from its midway. SOLUTION: Distribution data of a data broadcast program is constituted of a data entity and sets of data units each comprising key information. First a viewer uses an entry means 104 to enter a retrieval condition of data he/she wishes to acquire. A reception means 102 receives a main broadcast and a data broadcast and a separate means 103 separates them. A display processing control means 101 checks the key information and the retrieval condition of the data broadcast program and allows a display means 108 to display a matching data unit singly or simultaneously with the main broadcast program. When the viewer views the main broadcast program from its midway, the summary video images of the main broadcast program in the unit of block thereof transmitted as a data broadcast are received and stored into a storage means. The display processing control means allows the display means to reproduce the summary video images for a period lapsed before the viewer starts its viewing and switches to the main broadcast program.
