PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device permitting an easier-to-see display by controlling an emitting light quantity of a back-light according to external illuminance, and to provide a storage medium. SOLUTION: A CPU 11 detects illuminance near a screen surface by external light, and when the illuminance is illuminance (a) or lower, a back-light 17 is turned on at a weak light quantity level. When the illuminance ranges between (a) and (b), a residual quantity of a battery 20 is detected by a battery residual quantity sensor 19, and when the battery 20 has a sufficient residual quantity, the back-light 17 is turned on at an intense light quantity level. When the battery 20 has an insufficient residual quantity, the back-light 17 is not turned on. When the illuminance is at the level b or higher, the illuminance of the external light is judged as sufficient and the back-light 17 is not turned on.
