PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method capable of numerically expressing the sensorial evaluation by a human being and determining in advance data that serve as a design reference or design guideline capable of providing a prescribed evaluation under usage conditions for an article to be developed. SOLUTION: This measuring device of article usage characteristic comprises either one of at least one load sensor or at least one displacement sensor and at least one weight sensor or a plurality of sensors including the combination thereof, a storage part for storing prescribed data, and a processing part for storing in the storage part a plurality of physical quantities detected by the plurality of sensors, correlated with time. The physical quantities related to the usage operation of an article to be measured are measure, and they are coordinated with sensuous evaluation concerning the usage operation to numerically express the sensuous evaluation that is a sensorial evaluation.
