PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a Schmitt trigger circuit that ensures an operating margin against waveform distortion and obtains a high speed switching characteristic. SOLUTION: The Schmitt trigger circuit 10 is configured such that an applied voltage to a reference voltage input terminal 7 of a differential input circuit 2 is dynamically varied with a delay of a specific time by a delay circuit 4 in response to a signal voltage received by the differential input circuit 2. Thus, while ensuring an operating margin only for a specific period against waveform distortion of an input signal 1, a threshold voltage is set low in the case of transition where the input waveform changes from a low level to a high level, and conversely a threshold voltage is set high in the case of transition where the input waveform changes from a high level to a low level so as to attain more suitable optimization for a high speed switching operation in comparison with a conventional Schmitt trigger circuit.
