A conveyor track has a rail rigidly fixed to spaced chairs attached to a superstructure so a carriage can slide and/or roll along the rail. The rail has sections joined end-to-end adjacent the supports. Each junction has a fishplate that joins two rail sections to the adjacent support. The fishplate may have a first part extending along and across the running surface of the rails and connected to a second part embedded in recesses in the rail. The ends of the first part are chamfered to form a transition between the surface of the first part and the running surface of the rail.
