PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make plural kinds of recording media with a kind of drive device usable by detecting the kinds of the recording media regardless of manual operation of a user in a recording medium drive device. SOLUTION: This recording medium drive device is provided with a loading part attachably/detachably loading the recording medium, a weight measurement part measuring the weight of the loaded recording medium, plural signal input/ output parts answering to the kind of the recording medium for writing the information onto the recording medium and reading out the information from the recording medium and a control part controlling the signal input/output parts.
