摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device that is obtainable a display with higher brightness in a reflecting mode by enhancing the contrast ratio and reflectance and obtainable a high contrast ratio in a transmitting mode. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device, phase difference plate 20 and a polarizing plate 21 are successively laminated on a liquid crystal panel 19. A phase difference plate 22 and a polarizing plate 23 are successively laminated on the other surface. Furthermore, a backlight 24 is provided on the polarizing plate 23. In the liquid crystal panel 19, a transparent electrode 6, an insulation layer 7 and an alignment layer 8 are successively formed on a glass substrate 4. A black matrix 25, an overcoat layer 26, a semitransparent layer 9, a coloring part 10, an overcoat layer 11, a transparent electrode 12 and an alignment layer 13 are formed inside a glass substrate 5. And respective glass substrates 4, 5 are stuck together with a sealant 15 via a liquid crystal layer 14.
