PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To greatly promote the control of the size of a hard segment prepared from a diisocyanate by simultaneously mixing the diisocyanate and a short-chain diol. SOLUTION: A contact lens is prepared by a method including the following steps; (a) the diisocyanate forms the hard segment by reacting with the low molecular weight diol which is selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic diisocyanate and an aromatic diisocyanate attached to an aromatic ring varying in isocyanate groups and has 1 to 40 carbon atoms; (b) the hard segment forms a urethane elastomer by reacting with long-chain diol having a molecular weight greater than 1,000 and (c) the elastomer reacts with an end capping agent having a polymerizable function and 2 equivalent of the diisocyanate and 1 equivalent of the low molecular weight diol used for the formation of the hard segment are simultaneously mixed within the temperature range from 40 to 100 deg.C.
