<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a construction capable of suppressing the flicker of a picture due to the movement of disclination lines in a vertical alignment mode liquid crystal device. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal device is a vertical alignment type device. Among the four corners of a pixel electrode 1 with a nearly rectangular planar shape, the planar shapes of two corners placed opposite to each other on the tip side of the rubbing direction, taking the rubbing direction R of an alignment layer arranged on the upper side of the pixel electrode 1 as the axis of symmetry, namely the lower left and the lower right corners, are mutually asymmetrical.
