PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle digital broadcast receiver that can conduct proper mute control in a surrounding area of a broadcast area and its inside respectively. SOLUTION: The receiver determines whether or not its own vehicle is resident in a surrounding area of a broadcast area depending on position data from a CPS unit 18. The receiver sets a time for fade-in control longer for mute release by an electronic volume control 15 when deciding that its own vehicle is resident in the surrounding area, and sets the fade-in time shorter when deciding that its own vehicle is resident in an inner area than the surrounding area.
