PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas discharge lamp which is prolonged in the guaranteed life and improved in emission current. SOLUTION: A gas discharge lamp of the invention, particularly, a low voltage discharging lamp comprises an electrode having a support of an electrode metal and a first electrode coating layer of an electron emitting material, wherein the electron emitting material include a metal powder adjustment article of a reduction metal powder selected from group formed by aluminum, silicon, titanium, zirconium, hafnium, tantalum, molybdenum, tungsten and their alloys, the coating layer of powder including a noble metal selected from a group formed by rhenium, cobalt, nickel, ruthenium, palladium, rhodium, iridium, platinum and their alloys is formed into the adjustment article of the metal powder, the electron emitting material includes at least one alkali earth metal oxide selected from a group formed by calcium oxide, strontium oxide, and barium oxide. With this constitution, it makes an emission current uniformly and prolongs the guaranteed life.
