PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auger, where a deposition curing type stainless steel forms a matrix, at a low cost. SOLUTION: In an auger 10 provided at the two ends of an auger body 11 with pivot parts 12 and 13, padding of a wear resistant alloy is effected on annular recesses 12a and 13a, formed in portions corresponding to pivot parts 12 and 13 of the auger 10, through plasma arc welding. The surfaces of cladding parts 12b and 13b are finished to form the pivot parts 12 and 13. A method of manufacturing the auger 10 described above is provided. A precipitation hardening type stainless steel before precipitation hardening is employed as a matrix and age heat treatment of the matrix is executed by preheat and a weld heat at a plasma arc process for precipitation hardening. This constitution dispenses with age heat treatment at an independent heat treatment process and provides the auger 10 at a low cost.
