PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily manufacture a cooling air chamber of a simple structure to cool a burner body in an infrared ray burner formed of a thin-walled steel plate suitable for drying paper, cloth, etc., and heating various kind of articles including foods, metals and woods. SOLUTION: In the infrared ray burner provided with a mixture gas chamber with a combustion plate fitted on a front side thereof and the cooling air chamber to cool the burner body, the burner body is formed as a box having a flange on an outer circumferential part of the front side, and a second box larger in size than the burner body and having an inwardly facing flange on an inner circumferential part is provided, the burner body is fitted inside the second box, and a space between the burner body and the second box is formed as the cooling air chamber by overlapping the flange of the burner body and the inwardly facing flange of the second box, and fixing them to each other.
