PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aperture grill and cathode ray tube, which can absorb the thermal effect with extra slit and prevent reflection of unnecessary beams. SOLUTION: The invention relates to the aperture grill, comprising a flat aperture grill 5 consisting of a plurality of holes formed in the metallic thin film placed inside the screen, and an extra slit 10 formed in the metallic thin film outside the flat aperture grill 5, wherein the inside face and outside face of the metallic thin film constructing the extra slit 10 face each other in the protrusion shape, each protrusion P1, P2 having different height in the thickness direction of the metallic thin film, and screen side face 11a rather than the protrusion P1 of the outer end side being placed in the shadow region of the incoming beam formed of the protrusion P1.
