PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved separator for a fuel cell that has high workability for a metal, high capacity of collecting electricity, and high corrosion resistance against chlorine ion contained in the air and a fuel cell incorporating the separator. SOLUTION: A solid polymer electrolyte 12 has a fuel electrode 14 on one side, and on the other side, an air electrode 16 is provided. A metal separator 18 is mounted on each electrode both to make contact collection of electricity and to form gas passage. The metal separator 18 is coated with a negative ion capture layer 26 for capturing chlorine ions contained in the air. The material used for capturing negative ions may include a strong basic negative ion exchange resin, hydroxide of Cr, Zr, Ti, Sn, etc., and negative ion exchange stratified compound such as compound of hydrotarsite. |
