PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data reception method hardly causing disadvantage for an opposite party during communication, an opposite party desiring communication by a call-wait function or a reception side at the time of reception in a facsimile equipment having the call-wait function. SOLUTION: This facsimile machine of a reception side alternately receives first facsimile data and second facsimile data in a single page unit of a transmission original, when it receives a transmission request by the call-wait function. When the reception of the page 1a of first facsimile data which is received when the transmission request of second facsimile data is given is completed, the reception of first facsimile data is interrupted temporarily and a system moves to the reception of second facsimile data. When a page 2a being the first page of second facsimile data is completed, the system moves again to the reception of first facsimile data. In this way, the reception of both data is repeated for each page, and the remaining pages 1d of first facsimile data are continuously received after the reception of second facsimile data is completed in advance in a page 2c.
