PURPOSE: Provided is an article storage system which uses password to open a storage box without a separate key so that it improves convenience in use. CONSTITUTION: The article storage system is largely consisted of multiple article storage boxes to store articles for multiple users and a control device for storage boxes to control multiple article storage boxes wherein the control device comprises the parts of: a central control tool which includes CPU, RAM and ROM to control the entire system; an operation key which enables users to operate the storage system; a switching tool for the storage box which is controlled by the central control tool to open or close the storage box; a coin/note recognition tool which senses coins or notes inserted; a return tool for change which returns change in excess of coins or notes; an I/O tool which treats data input and output of the operation key, the switch tool for the storage box, the return tool for change, the coin/note recognition tool and the central control tool; and a display tool which visually displays the operation situation of the central control tool.
