METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PATTERN MATCHING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pattern matching method and a pattern matching device which highly efficiently perform collation between data. SOLUTION: In this pattern matching method, the data of a collation object are divided for every prescribed area corresponding to reference pattern data and the prescribed area data of the collation object are collated with the reference pattern data. The pattern matching method includes a bucket partition process in which the data of the collation object are partitioned into buckets composed of a plurality of pieces of prescribed area data, and a matching process in which the reference pattern data are collated with each prescribed are data of the buckets for every reference pattern data and every bucket of the collation object.
