PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a difficulty in operation when the tip of a finger is injured or user has long nails in the case of operating a ten key, up/down key or jog dial concerning a conventional portable telephone set or portable communication terminal such as PHS. SOLUTION: Concerning this information retrieving method for portable communication terminal, the direction or number of vibrations applied to the portable communication terminal is detected and converted into an electric signal by a vibration sensor built in a vibration detecting part 2, information such as name/telephone number of a communicating party is previously stored by a storage part 4, the electric signal from the vibration detecting part 2 is converted into a control signal by a control part 1, the information such as name/telephone number of the communicating party stored in the storage part 4 is retrieved by that control signal, the information retrieved by the control part 1 is visibly displayed on a display part 5, and communication with the communicating party is performed by a radio part 7.
