PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic document feeder constituted so that the fluctuation of load imposed on a carrying belt can be suppressed. SOLUTION: A cleaning member 33 is fitted to the carrying belt 17 obliquely in the carrying direction of a document. The cleaning member 33 is constituted of so-called brush-like or nappy soft fiber such as nonwoven fabric. Besides, material including antistatic agent or material obtained by executing antistatic finish is used for the cleaning member 33. Then, a cleaning blade 34 for eliminating soil attached to the cleaning member 33 is arranged at the driving roller 16 side of the belt 17.
