Method for surveying a reserved car parking space (1) in which an image of each vehicle is automatically taken when it parks in the place. The image is then processed so that a code on the vehicle can be read to determine if the vehicle is authorized to park in the place. If not an alarm is triggered. An Independent claim is made for a device for determining if a car is authorized to park in a reserved parking space.
