PURPOSE: A combustion system is provided in which a combustion rate is not reduced rapidly even though the supply of a combustion air is reduced rapidly or greatly. CONSTITUTION: A combustion system comprises a burner, a proportioning control valve(18), a blower, a detecting unit for air amount, a blowing control unit(32), a thermocouple(11), and a proportioning valve control unit. The thermocouple generates thermoelectromotive force corresponding to an air ratio which is the ratio of a real air amount supplied to the burner by the blower to a necessary air amount for combustion. The proportioning valve control unit controls the degree of an opening of the proportioning control valve with a secondary change rate smaller than a primary change rate that a change of the rotary speed of the time of controlling the rotary speed of the blower by the blowing control unit for the thermoelectromotive force of the thermocouple to accord with the reference voltage corresponding to a prescribed reference air rate.
