PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for testing the operation of an electronic unit by simulation. SOLUTION: A simulator 11 provided with at least one microprocessor 14 sends an input simulation signal E to a unit 1 being tested at present and receives an output signal S from the unit 1 as reaction. The method consists of the processing of a part of an output signal S1 from the unit 1 by using a programmable logic circuit 18 when the signal S1 is issued, the storage of a parameter value corresponding to the processed signal and the provision of an access to the stored parameter value to the microprocessor 14 at frequency matched with the operation frequency of the microprocessor 14 itself. The simulator 11 is provided with at least one programmable logic circuit 18 of an FPGA type e.g. suited to the reception of at least a part of the signal S1 outputted from the unit 1.
