PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of detecting the poor connection of cells in battery pack capable of detecting a poor connection between the cells on battery pack and a protective circuit, and a power supply unit capable of avoiding a malfunction in the protective circuit even if the poor connection between the cells on battery pack and the protection circuit. SOLUTION: After detection terminals TP1-TP4 in which voltage between terminals of a secondary battery cell 2a is inputted are shortened for a prescribed period by turning on transistors 121-123, the over-discharging of a secondary battery cell 2a is detected by a cell voltage comparison circuit 13. It is determined that the second battery cell 2a and the detecting terminals TP1-TP4 are under the poor connection or a non-conductive condition caused by the poor connection when detected voltage is voltage under an almost short circuit condition even if a prescribed period has elapsed after the transistors 121-123 had been turned off.
