PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a servo error detecting method, a device which is suited to the method, a disk assuring the quality of a servo error signal, the servo control method of a disk recording and reproducing device, a tracking error detecting method and a tilt error detecting method. SOLUTION: Relating to a device recording and reproducing a disk on whose data area reference patterns which are of regular and which have a fixed magnitude are recorded, the servo error of the disk recording and reproducing device is detected based on the ratio of magnitudes of reproduced signals corresponding to the reference patterns recorded at least at two positions where are separated with each other.
