SOLID-STATE IMAGE PICKUP DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce development man-hours and cost load due to both machines developments of a FIT type and an IT type in a solid-state image pickup device and also reduce power consumption, while realizing high quality recording in a solid-state image pickup device with a recording part. SOLUTION: An imaging part 51 is provided with a FIT type image pickup element 52 and its drive circuit 54. The drive circuit 54a in the mode 1 of the circuit 54 generates a drive pulse in which normal FIT type CCD driving is performed. The drive circuit 54b in the mode 2 does not perform high-speed transfer which is characteristic of the FIT but selects a storing part as the extension of a vertical transfer part to perform the same drive as IT type CCD driving. The image pickup device with a recording part 55 selects the high quality mode 1, when an image is recorded and the mode 2 of low power, when the image is not recorded.
