PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a liquid crystal display device by which a plastic substrate can be cut without closing the opening of an injection port. SOLUTION: At the time of cutting joint substrate 7 (2, 3) formed so that the two joint substrates 2 and 3 constituting a liquid crystal display device can be opened, a notch 9 is formed so that the top end can reach form the outer surface side of the substrate 2 to the inside part the substrate, and then a notch 10 is formed so that the top end can reach from the outer surface side of the other substrate 3 through the substrate 3 and an inter-substrate clearance 8 to the inside part of the other substrate 2, and each to end is respectively positioned in the notches 10 and 9 or matched with the notches.
