PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rare gas flash discharge lamp and its lighting circuit that can enhance a luminous efficiency of light in a remote ultraviolet region and a near ultraviolet region without increasing current density even in starting a flash discharge. SOLUTION: In the lamp, there is sealed a metal having a luminous spectrum of which wavelength is <=400 nm within a discharge vessel 10, and added a heating means for preheating the discharge vessel in a temperature where the sealed metal is made into a vaporized state. The heating means comprises a heating tube 20 covering a discharge vessel and a heater 21 wound into the heating tube. Also, a heater directly wound into a surface of the discharge vessel is used as the heating means. In the lighting circuit, current is made to flow continuously before flash-discharging a rare gas flash discharge lamp, and there is provided a simmer circuit for preheating the discharge vessel in the temperature where the sealed metal is into a vapor state. |
