PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner which is adaptive to the higher dot density of a recording medium since the speed uniformity can be improved without varying the print width. SOLUTION: The angle (θ46) of the normal of a lens surface at the intersection of the surface of a lens (42), arranged closest to a scanned medium, on the side of an optical deflecting means and the main light beam of luminous flux at a scanning start end and the direction (θ46') of the normal of the lens surface at the intersection of the surface of this lens on the side of the scanned medium and the mentioned light beam are made nearly equal, and the angle (θ49) of the normal of the lens surface at the intersection of the surface of the lens on the side of the optical deflecting means and the main light beam of the luminous flux at a scanning end and the direction (θ49') of the normal of the lens surface at the intersection of the surface of the lens on the side of the scanned medium and the mentioned light beam are made nearly equal.
