PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable conductance heat pipe with improved heat controllability for maintaining a radiation start temperature at a specific temperature by preventing working fluid in a heat pipe from passing through a condensation part in the state of steam or liquid drips and reaching a gas well, and preventing the gas well from becoming an extremely high temperature even if, for example, the steam or the working fluid reaches the gas well and preventing the amount of working fluid operating as the heat pipe from decreasing and hence from causing dry-out. SOLUTION: The variable conductance heat pipe is provided with a closed container having a heat absorption part and a heat radiation part, a specific amount of working fluid and a specific amount of non-condensation gas being sealed into the closed container, a gas well container that is provided with a plurality of laminated spaces being provided at the end of the heat radiation part of the closed container and is used for accommodating the non-condensation gas, and a communication member for connecting the sealed container to the gas well container.
