PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a higher quality image, without making the image unnatural due to white defect correction in a white defect correction circuit. SOLUTION: This circuit has a means, which generates a 1st white defect correction signal corresponding to the video signal of a defective pixel position of a CCD, a means which generates a 2nd white defect correction signal corresponding to the video signal of a pixel position in the vicinity of the defective pixel position due to the CCD and an analog response from the CCD to an A/D converter, and a means which respectively subtracts the 1st and 2nd white defect correction signals from the CCD output video signal.
