PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for a charge generating layer having high sensitivity, little image defects and excellent stability of the potential during continuous printing and to provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor having high sensitivity, little image defects and excellent stability of the potential during continuous printing. SOLUTION: The composition for a charge generating layer contains a charge generating material, binder, carboxylic acid and solvent, and the electrophotographic photoreceptor has a charge generating layer formed by using the aforementioned composition for a charge generating layer.
