PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an axle device capable of freely switching a rotation lock in both reciprocal directions and an idly rotating state, capable of supporting a wheel, capable of reducing weight and formable as the compact constitution. SOLUTION: A double row bearing 1 and a two-way clutch 2 are coaxially juxtaposed, and a lever 3 is arranged for switching the two-way clutch 2 to a lock state and an idly rotating state. The double row bearing 1 houses double row rolling bodies 10 between rolling traveling surfaces 6 to 9 of an outer member 4 and an inner member 5. The outer member 4 is composed of a hub wheel. The two-way clutch 2 is formed of a cam clutch for forming a wedge- shaped space engaged with an engaging piece 16 out of a cam surface 15. The lever 3 is arranged in a cage 17 for holding the engaging piece 16.
