PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric cleaner in which power consumption is reduced by sucking dust at a constant suction air volume when a cleaner brush is pressed against the floor surface and reducing suction air volume when the cleaner brush is lifted from the floor surface thereby eliminating useless suction. SOLUTION: The electric cleaner comprises a triac 3 for supplying a current to a commutator motor 1, a current transformer 4 for detecting a current flowing through the commutator motor 1, a circuit 6 for rectifying the output voltage of the current transformer 4, a circuit 7 for smoothing the output from the rectifier circuit 6 to produce an output proportional to the mean value, a circuit 11 for peak holding the output from the rectifier circuit 6 to produce an output proportional to the peak value, a circuit 12 for selecting the output from the mean value circuit 7 or the output from the peak hold circuit 11 competitively to output the higher voltage value, means 8 for controlling the firing angle of the triac 3 such that the output of the competitive output circuit 12 will be constant, and a circuit 9 for receiving the output from the firing angle control means 8 and delivering a drive signal to the gate of the triac 3. |
