PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle fault diagnosing method and device and a computer readable recording medium in which fault diagnostic program is record, by which fault diagnosis can speedily and exactly are executed. SOLUTION: In the case of connecting a computer to an electronic control device for a vehicle to diagnose the fault state of the vehicle, the computer is connected to a server storing fault diagnosis data necessary for fault diagnosis to read out data from the server (data reading step), the fault diagnosis is advanced by using the read fault diagnostic data on the basis of an interactive format with the computer (fault diagnosis step) and vehicle data are automatically obtained from the electronic control device by using the read fault diagnostic data (automatic vehicle data acquisition step).
