METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROCESSING QUOTES IN A COMMODITY EXCHANGE SYSTEM

Quotes received from a user of an exchange system are linked together to provide a quote chain, preferably by associating each of the quotes with a quote chain identifier. Each quote of the quote chain comprises a bid or offer directed to at least one seat within at least one event venue. Acceptance of any one of the quotes in the quote chain causes the remaining unaccepted quotes to be inactivated. Prior to acceptance of any one of the quotes in the quote chain, the user may request to have any one or more of the quotes in the quote chain unlinked from the quote chain. The processing necessary to implement such quote chains is preferably carried out at a centrally located exchange controller coupled to various users through a computer communications network.
