VALIDATION SYSTEM FOR SECURE ELECTRONIC COMMERCE

A validation system is provided for giving an indication of trustworthiness of a subject upon request from a user, including subject assessment means operable to obtain subject data from a data source, indicating means operable to provide to a user the results of the subject assessment, timing means operable to generate an indication of the time at which a request by a user is made, and receipt generating means operable to generate a receipt indicating at least one of the user, the subject assessment and the time of the request. The receipt can be used as evidence of an intended transaction with a subject. The system can also include recording means operable to record user requests and /or other user data relating to one or more subjects, and processing means operable to provide to a user an indication of the results of the subject assessment and/or recorded subject data.
