The sensor has a point (1) and a converter, used for converting the tunnel current obtained from the point into a magnetic signal, with detection of the latter via a magnetic field or magnetic flux sensor, e.g. a superconductive quantum interference detector. The converter can be provided by a spiral electrical conductor (2) lying in a plane containing a measuring loop (3), either or both of which are formed from a superconductive material.
