The piezoelectric actuator has a stack (10) of piezoceramic layers (8) and intermediate inner electrodes (3), extending inwards from outer electrodes (4) on opposite side edges of the stack, in alternation. The surface contact regions (9) of the inner electrodes are separated from the outer electrode by an electrically conductive powder layer (2), applied directly to the side face of the stack. An Independent claim for a manufacturing method for a multi-layer piezoelectric actuator is also included.
