A positive evaluation of the operating signal (8) operates a control unit (20) in communication with the signal processing unit (6). So that the locking condition of the vehicle doors (12) is altered corresp. to their locking or their unlocking. A further coded signal (36) which is coded respectively according to the locking condition taken up by the control unit (20), is transmittable from the signal processing unit (6) to the key (2). So that the data contained in the coding of the condition signal (36), can be represented on an indicating unit, arranged at the key (2).
