Conveying apparatus for packaging machine

A conveyor within a packaging machine includes a conveyor belt comprising a primary belt passing around a belt path and having an outer surface for receiving a package and belt strap(s) overlaying the primary belt and connected for movement in unison with the primary belt. Independent claims are also included for (A) a packaging machine comprising the conveyor belt; and (B) a method of improving the carrying ability of a packaging machine conveyor by forming a belt strap of a material less slippery than the material of the conveyor belt.
