<p>The present invention relates to apparatus for transmitting images via a video communications system. The video communications system has at least two communications devices (1, 2) coupled together via respective controllers (4, 5). The apparatus includes an electronic image originating device (6) for generating image data in accordance with the predetermined video format. The electronic image originating device is coupled to an input port (21, 22) of one of the controllers (4, 5) so it can transfer the image data thereto.
