PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnet roll having a constitution where diameter and weight are small, magnetic force of a desired pole is high, complex magnetic distribution waveform can be formed, magnetization can be performed without special apparatuses, and manufacturing is easy, in a magnet roll for electronic photography and electrostatic recording where clear image quality output is demanded with a small-sized and lightweight apparatus. SOLUTION: A magnet roll is constituted, by sticking a plurality of magnets with each other around a shaft formed of iron. The respective poles are constituted of rod shaped magnets, which have the same material and are collectively formed in unified bodies and whose sections are almost polygonal. For example, an isotropic R-Fe-B bonded magnet material is used for a pole where magnetic force is most required, and hard ferrite bonded magnets are used for other poles. Thereby high magnetic force can be imparted by combining both the materials and forming the poles, so that image quality can be improved, weight of constituent members and a device reduced, and miniaturization is enabled.
