TONGUE POSITIONING DEVICE WITH OPTIONAL FILTER

A tongue positioning mouthpiece (2) includes a mouthpiece body (4) with a center hole (6) therein. A flange portion (16) extends around the periphery of the mouthpiece body (4). A pair of bite blocks (8) protrude from the mouthpiece body (4) on opposing lateral sides of the center hole (6). A tongue bridge (12) is fixedly secured to the bite blocks via a pair of downwardly extending arms (10). The tongue bridge (12) includes a platform area (14) where a patient's tongue is placed under when the mouthpiece (2) is used. A cylindrical portion (18) extends from the mouthpiece body (4) in a direction away from the flange (16). An optional filter is removable from the cylindrical portion and acts as a protective barrier for viruses, bacteria, microbes, and other pathogens. The filter includes a removable filter body (26) containing a filter media (34).
