<p>A process for recovering hydrocarbons from coal or oil shale is disclosed. The process involves the steps of: forming a pulp of finely divided coal or oil shale in a first reaction bed, adding concentrated sulphuric acid to said first reaction bed, controlling the temperature of said first reaction bed to produce a hydrocarbon mixture, and deacidifying said hydrocarbon mixture.</p> |
